Message from Adams 12 Five Star Schools
As we embark on a new chapter of learning this school year, we encourage you to view the video message from Superintendent Chris Gdowski. This transition to remote learning is new to all of us and will require patience. Our commitment remains the same - to elevate your child’s success. Remote Learning (participation, grading, attendance, office hours)
Remote learning in Five Star Schools will be asynchronous, meaning students will learn the same material at different times and locations. Teachers will look at work completion on a weekly basis, allowing families and students to complete assignments throughout the day and week at times that work best for them. Instead of on a daily basis, teachers will track attendance based on weekly student participation and work completion. Grading is up to teacher discretion and could be a numeric, letter or pass/fail grade depending on the grade level and content. Your child’s teacher and school will share more on their decision about grading style.
Individual school teachers will maintain office hours. Remote learning office hours are specific times during which students and/or parents can connect with educators to ask questions and access support using interactive tools such as Google Chat, Google Hangouts Meet, Gmail and Zoom. Teachers will communicate their office hours to families.
We encourage families to stay connected to their student’s teachers and school during this new journey. A strong partnership between families and teachers is crucial to remote learning success.
