IMPORTANT NOTICE TO PARENTS
Recently there have been a number of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) among students and staff at Stellar Elementary School. ILI is a fever >100.4 and a new cough and/or sore throat. Tri-County Health Department is working with the Stellar Elementary School to provide assistance in controlling the spread through,
- Sending children and staff with ILI home until fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication;
- Increased hand washing;
- Teaching everyone to cough into their arm, not their hands;
- Increased cleaning and sanitizing high touch surfaces.
- Encouraging flu vaccine for children and staff
We ask that your family follow the same control measures at home. Should your child become ill with influenza like illness, keep them home from school to prevent any further spread, and contact your physician for treatment and testing; it is not too late to vaccinate. Watch your child for symptoms of fever, cough, congestion, body aches, and sore throat. Notify the health office at Stellar Elementary School of any student illness immediately. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Hite, Communicable Disease Epidemiologist, at 720-200-1531.
