I was raised in Broomfield, Colorado from the time I was 7 years old. I am a product of BVSD. I attended Kohl, and then Birch ES. I spent one year as a homebound student while I underwent multiple surgeries and hospital stays for a birth defect. I was enrolled in Broomfield Jr. High and High School, and graduated in 1981. I went on to attend Brigham Young University and University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (with a focus in math).
I taught for nine years in Las Vegas before relocating back to Colorado. I taught for 1 year in BVSD, nine years in Jefferson county, and 3 years in Adams 14 SD. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and reading intervention. My life of teaching began way before college. I am the oldest of 10 children, and spent many hours reading to and teaching my siblings to read. During my high school years, I spent time at the local elementary schools helping struggling readers. I also tutored students outside of school. I have enjoyed the teaching profession, and look forward to many more years as a teacher. I am excited to be at Stellar ES, and to work with such wonderful students and families.
