This is my twelfth year teaching fourth grade at Stellar and I honestly can’t think of anything I’d rather do! The staff, students, and parents all make Stellar a great place to learn and work. I have a B.A. in Economics from Sweet Briar College in Virginia. After working in the business world, I decided to pursue my original passion—teaching! I earned my M.Ed. from Marymount University in Virginia and taught third and fourth grades in Virginia and North Carolina. My husband Rolfe and I have two sons, and I was privileged to stay home with them for about ten years when we moved to Colorado. I returned to work part-time as a substitute teacher, then full-time when I came to Stellar. Both my sons went to Tarver Elementary, Century Middle, and graduated from Horizon High School (2013 and 2017) The youngest is starting his second year at C.U. Boulder. We’ve had great experiences in District 12 Schools! I love camping and hiking and I also swim competively for Thornton Masters. Even my summers are spent working with kids! I coach over 100 swimmers on the Signal Creek Swim Team.
Here at Stellar, I sponsor The Stellar Broadcasting Company, fourth and fifth graders who do the daily Stellar Morning News. My goal for my students is that they become responsible, independent students who can ask questions, solve problems, and develop a curiosity that makes them lifelong learners.
