I love my job! I am a passionate, self-motivated, quality-conscious team player with a reputation for enthusiasm, commitment, leadership and loyalty. My love for learning and teaching is fostered through a caring, student-centered, constructivist culture supporting diverse learners in gaining knowledge through inquiry and connections in a safe, challenging, engaging, and collaborative atmosphere. My goal is student success; for every student to become empowered through education and to realize their potential as they recognize the influence and value of knowledge, and to seize ownership for learning. I am committed to making learning fun, insightful, and holding every student accountable to take responsibility for their success. I look forward to partnering with parents to support each child through this process.
Dreams do come true and I am living mine! This is my thirteenth year teaching third grade at Stellar Elementary. I am thrilled to be on a dynamic team of dedicated, hardworking professional educators who share the goals of high student achievement in all of the Scholarly Habits Traits: Respect, Preparation, Risk-Taking, Excellence, and Perseverance. As a cohesive staff, we work together, not only within our grade level, but vertically to meet the needs of all students through collaboration; THE key to the success of all children. I am fortunate to be part of a “Stellar” staff. We are your team, working together with parents and caregivers, to support your children in becoming lifelong learners!
On a personal note, I am a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Metropolitan State University of Denver. Two handsome men call me Mom: Alec and William. When I’m not at work, you can find me somewhere outside; golfing, fly-fishing, shooting my long-bow (targets only), running, hiking, dancing, skiing, or entertaining. My latest adventure was flying among the clouds as a passenger in a single engine plane flown by my son, Alec! I'm certain that my Navy Veteran Hurricane Hunter father is smiling down from heaven! I was born in Pennsylvania and lived my first seven years in six different cities! Half way through 2nd grade, my residence became Wheaton, Illinois where I grew up with my four sisters. My mom still resides in the home I grew up in. I’m thrilled to call Colorado home since 1983, minus six years living in southern California. I appreciate the natural beauty and sunshine that Colorado provides, I can't imagine living anywhere else!
