I am originally from Fremont, in the Bay Area of Northern California. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies with a minor in Early Childhood Education and a K-8 Teaching Endorsement from California State University East Bay. I was a first and second-grade teacher in Newark, CA before moving to Colorado in 1997. In 1999, I was hired as a second-grade teacher at Arapahoe Ridge Elementary, eventually moving up to teach fourth grade. After completing my Master of Arts in Educational Administration, I continued my work in AD12 as Assistant Principal for six years, with two of those years right here at Stellar! From 2010-2015, I served as the Principal at Westview Elementary. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Stellar Elementary as Principal. On a more personal note I love to: read, write, travel, play the piano and spend time with family and friends. I recently worked with Denver Public Schools writing short biographies about famous people in Colorado’s history, for third and fourth-grade readers and had a book published in the fall of 2013. I volunteer with my church—working with grades K-5, directing our summer Kids’ Camp, supporting drama productions through music or lighting/sound-room duties, even performing in a few melodramas over the last many years. And, come summertime, you will find me enjoying my “vitamin sea” with a week or more spent along the Atlantic or the Pacific Ocean!
